Fixed (Settings): The Widget Background Sync toggle no longer appears stuck "on" when location permission is denied. The toggle now correctly reflects that it's off, and tapping it triggers the permission prompt directly instead of making you toggle off then back on.

Fixed: A startup glitch where multiple notes at the same place would visibly reshuffle among themselves while the map first zoomed to your location. The order is now stable - notes at the same place stay in a consistent order from one launch to the next.
Fixed (Android): A rare crash where opening a per-note "approach" Live Update could crash the app if you had previously revoked location permission. The Live Update now bails gracefully instead.
Fixed (Travel mode): Optimized Route option no longer hangs indefinitely. The optimized request now times out within 15 seconds (down from 30) and an outdated response can't overwrite a newer one if you change your trip while the previous request is still in flight.

Note (Samsung One UI 8.5): Samsung gates the dedicated Live notifications shade section behind a hardcoded partner-app allowlist on One UI 8.5. Local Notes isn't on it, so on Samsung the notification posts non-collapsibly with the progress bar in the regular shade section instead of the pill. Underlying feature works the same; Samsung just doesn't surface it as prominently for third-party apps yet.
Fixed: A rare crash on Android emulators when location services were disabled mid-call no longer shows up as a fatal crash in our telemetry. The app already handles location-services-off gracefully; the crash report was over-classifying a benign race condition.

Fixed (Android 16): Per-note "approach" notifications and Travel mode notifications now actually show up in the dedicated Live Updates section at the top of the notification shade. The previous release added everything the docs called out except a behind-the-scenes channel setting; that's now corrected. You may need to enable Live Updates for Local Notes once in Settings -> Apps -> Local Notes -> Notifications the first time.
New (Travel mode): Status bar chip uses the same flag icon you see in the app, tinted teal in light mode and warm amber in dark mode.

Fixed: When you sign out of your Google/Apple/email account and continue as a guest, the welcome tour now shows for the new guest session. Previously the tour was tied to the device, so once anyone had completed it on the phone, no one else using the device would ever see it again.
New: Onboarding state is now tied to your account, not the device. Complete the tour once on phone A and you won't see it again when you sign in on phone B with the same account.

Fixed: Stale notification state from old notes no longer triggers phantom "You're at this place" alerts. Sign-out now tears down geofences and Live Activities before clearing local data so the OS can't fire a late callback against wiped state.

Improved: Pro subscription receipts are now validated against the actual expiry date returned by the App Store and Google Play, not a buffer from purchase time. Old expired transactions can no longer be replayed to extend an entitlement.
